Persian rugs are special due to master craftsmanship; weavers have passed down knowledge from generation to generation, slowly improving them for thousands of years. Rugs are a part of Persia’s (now primarily Iran’s) cultural identity and history. Every bold pattern and bright color carries a rich story and symbolism. They are expensive because of their use of the highest quality silks and wools; and the many years of weaving that can go into a single rug, which is why a Persian rug can last multiple lifetimes.
